Petersen Family

Meet the Petersens! I had such a good time photographing them and the location was beyond beautiful. Each person in their family has so much personality and I tried to catch a glimpse of that, especially in their single shots.
Here's a confession for you: Posing a family of 7 "just right" can be tough. But during this session I learned a valuable lesson: Let them pose themselves too! The few times I did that, I could feel the ease in their positions and the real smiles came out without much coaxing on my part. All I had to do was be ready to catch those natural and REAL family moments.
Thank you for letting me spend time with your family!
This is one of my sweet Beehives. Isn't she beautiful?
And I have now claimed this handsome devil as my future son-in-law...
In the boys' picture below, I had them throw rocks into the water at the same time. Then I said "Look over here and smile" and just a moment later they gave me those poses. So awesome.
I'm in love with these sibling pictures...

The Edwards Family

This is a sweet family I know from Salt Lake. Don't they have the most adorable little girls? We had perfect lighting that evening and I personally enjoyed finding fun backdrops around Wheeler Farm. I especially love the "sister" photos we got. So precious!

Tori Turner - Senior Photos

Meet my sister in law. :) Isn't she beautiful? Before Tori graduated from high school, I was lucky enough to take her senior photos at one of my favorite locations: Lake Las Vegas. I had a great time doing this shoot and I loved the pop of color against the rocky backdrops.

The Larson Family

I adore and miss this family so much! I was able to photograph the Larsons a few different times while we lived in Henderson. They're all so photogenic and this is one of my very favorite locations. All in all, we got a lot of great shots!

The Birkeland Family

This was by far one of my very favorite sessions! ... Is it bad to have a favorite?... This little sweetheart was such a happy baby and so full of joy. The location (Memory Grove) is also one of my favorite spots, so overall it was a perfect evening with the Birkeland Family.

Gracie Girl

I can't start this photography blog without showing some of my very favorite sessions with my own daughter. She is ultimately the reason I started learning the "business" of photography, I guess you could say. I had taken black and white photography classes in high school and a little in college, and played around with the point-and-shoot setting of my DSLR for years. But once I had Grace, I wanted to learn to be better. I wanted to understand the techniques of the manuel settings so I could keep beautiful memories of each stage of her life. I started doing simple photo sessions each time Grace turned a month older until she was 1 year old, and have now been doing that with my son. I love capturing each stage this way and seeing just how much they change in a few short weeks!

Here are a few of my favorites of Grace - my very first, little subject.

{Extended} Turner Family

My mother in law asked me to be in charge of taking our Turner family photos last fall and I was a little worried about how to accomplish that since I also needed to be in some of them... Luckily we found a friend who was happy to help snap the photos while I handled the camera settings each time that I had to be in the shot. It was a bit stressful, and with such a large family (including individual families to photograph) we were losing the good light pretty fast. I think we still did pretty well and got some good ones!
Just for fun... Even though I didn't technically take this photo, here is the whole family together. I love them! (I was happy to hide my prego belly in the back)

Baby Paisley

This sweet little girl was just a tiny little peanut when she was born over a year ago. I had such a good time doing her photo session. Her mom, my good friend in Nevada, hand-crochetted all of her accessories. So talented!
